Ending the HIV Epidemic Townhall Meeting, December 4

 The Area 7 HIV/AIDS program at the Florida Department of Health in Orange County is partnering with the Heart of Florida United Way to host the Ending the HIV Epidemic in Orange County Townhall meeting on December 4, 2019.

 

The gathering will be an opportunity for the Orange County community to create a new plan to End the HIV Epidemic and engage new partners in the planning process. This will also be a chance for the community to make their voices heard during the scheduled Q&A session and to get updated information on the fight to end HIV.

 

This event is free and open to the public. Food and refreshments will be available.

Background

·         Orange County Ranks #3 in the State for both newly diagnosed HIV cases and Persons Living with HIV. 

·         In 2018, there were 500 new known cases of HIV in Orange County.

·         According to the 2017 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention HIV Surveillance Report, the Orlando Metropolitan Area (Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford) is ranked number two in the country for new case rates.
