VATS procedures may also result in decreased preoperative blood loss for patients, shorter length of hospital stays, and faster return to preoperative activities, compared with open thoracic procedures. In addition, data suggests patients normally need less post-operative analgesic medications, with lower pain scores following VATS surgical procedures.
