Kissimmee – St. Cloud Region: Osceola Regional Medical Center: A Comprehensive Medical Resource for Central Florida
Since the opening of its new building in 1997, Osceola Regional Medical Center has come into its own. After a subsequent $55+ million expansion in 2004, the Joint Commission accredited facility further expanded its service lines and invested in state-of–the-art technology never before available in Osceola County. It's all part of a plan to create a comprehensive, cutting edge medical facility for this growing region. The following highlights illustrate the hospital's commitment to serving Central Florida.
As the county's only accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI, Osceola Regional has partnered with local emergency services to receive EKGs via a Bluetooth® technology, LifeNet® STEMI Management Solutions, while STEMI patients are in transit. This allows them to beat national benchmarks of 90 minutes or less for opening an obstructed vessel - consistently.
A recipient of Blue Cross Blue Shield's Blue Distinction for Cardiac Care, Central Florida Cardiac and Vascular Institute (CFCVI), is the county's only full-service cardiovascular facility. Institute's most respected specialists provide diagnosis and treatment in a facility featuring catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, minimally invasive heart valve, minimally invasive coronary artery bypass, vascular procedures and traditional cardiovascular surgeries. CFCVI is certified for Carotid Artery Stenting by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Other services available include Cardiac Rehabilitation services, Mended Hearts support group and an array of preventative classes among others.
Another distinguishing factor is being Florida's sole healthcare facility to own a ThermoSuit®, which quickly and safely lowers body temperature, minimizing brain and tissue damage. This improves chances for recovery after a heart attack for patients that have been successfully resuscitated.
Even while serving over 64,000 patients in 2009, Emergency Services significantly reduced wait-times, thanks to a new Rapid Treatment area. With wait-times consistently below national averages, Osceola Regional posts their average wait times on their website, billboard and via text messages.
Answering the county's stroke care needs, the Certified Primary Stroke Center was recognized by the American Heart and Stroke Association for quality stroke care. Last year, the hospital received the "Get With The Guidelines Silver Award" and was featured in the "America's Best Hospitals" issue of US News & World Report by the American Heart and Stroke Association.
Supported by a team highly experienced orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, pain management specialists and physical therapists, the Orthopedic and Spine Center offers multidisciplinary treatment options. These include conservative approaches, medication management, minimally invasive surgery, knee and hip replacements and complex spinal surgeries. The Center recently received the Blue Cross Blue Shield's Blue Distinction for Spine Surgery and Knee and Hip Replacement.
In addition to Osceola Imaging Center's comprehensive and advanced diagnostic imaging services, the Breast Care Center is staffed by women imaging specialists, board certified radiologists, certified female technologists and a Breast Care Coordinator who navigates women through diagnosis, treatment and recovery. The Center features one of the most powerful magnets in the market, the area's first 3.0T MRI.
Last year, nearly 2,000 babies arrived in safety and comfort at the Baby Suites. Those needing extra attention received care in the county's only Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The NICU cares for high risk newborns with advanced technology, specially trained nurses and 24/7 access to a neonatologist. The wellbeing of all infants is assured with state-of-the-art nursery monitoring and security systems.
Patients with chronic wounds receive skilled care from the Wound Healing Center's health care professionals—many of whom are board certified. Here, healing rates score consistently higher than the national average, thanks to complementary treatments, including Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, bio-engineered skin grafts, ultrasound debridement, total contact casting and antimicrobial therapy.
Kissimmee Physical Therapy Center takes a multi-faceted approach to rehabilitation. Its physical, occupational and speech therapists use multiple techniques to improve function. Rehabilitation is available for many conditions, including orthopedic, lymphedema, prosthetics, women's health and stroke.
