A New Year for the Seminole County Medical Society!

The Seminole County Medical Society is proud to announce its 2009 president, Vraj Panara, MD. Dr. Panara attended medical school at Gujarat University in Gujarat, India and went on to complete his residency at Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, New York. He is board certified in internal medicine and has been a member of SCMS since 2004. Dr. Panara stated that he's been very impressed with the members' interest and enthusiasm to help the society by giving their time and commitment. He plans on bringing many new benefits to SCMS members including employee group health insurance coverage, disability insurance at a much discounted rate with guaranteed coverage, and possibly some EMR solutions. Dr. Panara stated that, "There is no better time in the history of America than today for all of us to work together for the better cause and bring the community and nation back on track and see again a prosperous and healthy America."

SCMS Quarterly Meeting

The Seminole County Medical Society will hold its first quarterly meeting of 2009 on February 17th at Florida Hospital Altamonte. The cost is $35 for SCMS member guests and no charge for SCMS members. Florida Medical Association president, Steven West, MD, will be speaking at this meeting and giving an FMA update. In addition, guest speaker, Pat Shields with the Seminole County Medical Reserve Corps., will be talking about the medical reserve corps program, how little time it really takes to volunteer and sovereign immunity for volunteer physicians. This is a great organization to be involved with and a wonderful way to give back to your community! Since this will be the first meeting of the year, many of the medical society committee chairmen will be speaking on their committees' goals and plans for 2009.
