AMA Ed HubTM features new educational content from American Society of Addiction Medicine, Obesity Medicine Association, and the Society of Hospital Medicine and offers auto-reporting by American Board of Pathology to help physicians and health professionals improve care delivery
The American Medical Association (AMA) has announced the expansion of its online education portal aimed at offering physicians and other health care professionals a centralized location for finding, earning, tracking and reporting continuing medical education (CME) and other education on a wide range of clinical and professional topics. The newly enhanced AMA Ed HubTM offers physicians and their care teams access to educational activities developed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), Obesity Medicine Association (OMA), and the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM). Additionally, the platform now allows physicians who are board certified with the American Board of Pathology (ABPath) to have their credits automatically reported to ABPath.
“We know that lifelong learning, licensure and certification are the lifeblood of a physician’s career, as well as other health care professionals. Yet, it’s often very time-consuming and tedious for them to find all of the educational content and licensure and certification requirements they need,” said AMA President Susan R. Bailey, M.D. “We developed the AMA Ed Hub to ensure that physicians and their care teams have a more robust and more streamlined way to fulfill their lifelong learning at every stage of their career. We will continue to enhance the platform by adding new content and features that will not only help them keep current in their practice of medicine, but also help them reduce administrative burdens and improve health outcomes.”
With the addition of its three newest medical specialty content partners, the AMA Ed Hub features a greater variety of medical topics and types of educational activities for physicians and other health care professionals. The new partners developed the following content, which is accessible and free to all learners through the AMA Ed Hub, regardless of AMA, ASAM, OMA or SHM membership:
- American Society of Addiction Medicine offers CME to help health care professionals enhance their professional development and their practice. It also aims to help care teams improve clinical care while focusing on the full spectrum of addiction care: prevention, treatment, remission, and recovery. - The Obesity Medicine Association develops evidence-based obesity management techniques using the four pillars of clinical obesity treatment: nutrition, physical activity, behavior, and medication. With an estimated 93 million people in the U.S. affected by obesity, the disease is prevalent in almost all physician practices. - The Society of Hospital Medicine is offering hospitalist-specific continuing medical education and Maintenance of Certification opportunities through the AMA Ed Hub. Through this education, SHM aims to help physicians and care teams stay current in the knowledge and skills needed as the scope of hospital medicine continues to grow. Launched in 2019, the AMA Ed Hub features nearly 6,000 activities on clinical and interdisciplinary topics from a variety of trusted sources, including more than 2,000 CME, including activities from the JAMA Network’s JN Learning™, AMA STEPs Forward™, as well as five medical specialty content partners. In addition to the three newest partners announced today, the AMA Ed Hub also features education from the American College of Radiology—the first medical specialty society to offer learning opportunities on the platform, as well as the Gaples Institute for Integrative Cardiology. With CME conferences cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic, the AMA Ed Hub offers curated education and multimedia available at any time to ensure physicians and medical professionals can stay current while continuously improve the care they provide.
