AdventHealth's West Florida Division Share Leadership Change For Hospital CEO

AdventHealth's West Florida Division is getting ready to reinforce its performance and spread its mission, leading to some important leadership shifts beginning May 1, 2023, to support the needs of two separate facilities serving our growing communities.

Joe Johnson Takes The Wheel as AdventHealth Carrollwood President/CEO

Joe Johnson, a veteran leader with a long history of community building, has been selected as the President/CEO of AdventHealth Carrollwood, located in Tampa, Florida. The hospital has been serving its local community since the 60s and became part of the AdventHealth system back in 2010. With numerous Joint Commission certifications, a 5-star quality rating from CMS, and an extraordinary track record in patient safety, AdventHealth Carrollwood has constantly achieved its 15th consecutive Leapfrog Grade "A" in 2022.

Joe Johnson formerly served as the President/CEO of AdventHealth Carrollwood until 2018 when he was trusted with managing the transition of AdventHealth Ocala into the AdventHealth network, an impactful and substantial undertaking. Now, he is set to come back to AdventHealth Carrollwood, where he will continue to further develop the hospital's legacy, focusing on strategic growth campaigns, capital projects, enhancing cardiovascular services, and growing the surgical program.

A Pivotal Role In The Hospital’s Transformation

David Ottati, President, and CEO of the West Florida section conveyed his assurance in Johnson's capabilities, highlighting his deep-rooted relationships with co-workers, providers, and leaders at AdventHealth Carrollwood. Johnson's previous leadership played a vital role in the hospital's transformation, and his reappearance is enthusiastically awaited to make a lasting impact on the community.

Johnson shared his excitement, saying, "I'm excited to return to the Tampa Bay area and embrace the opportunities for strategic growth and investment that will help us meet the growing needs of this region for years to come."

Erika Skula Assumes Role as AdventHealth Ocala President/CEO

Created in 1898, AdventHealth Ocala is a fresh addition to the AdventHealth West Florida Division, having joined the group in 2018. With its promise to expand service lines, two separate emergency rooms, and various accreditations in surgical and cardiovascular care, AdventHealth Ocala continues to uplift health services for the citizens of Marion County.

Erika Skula, a veteran operator and a collaborator with doctors, will assume the role of President/CEO at AdventHealth Ocala. In her new position, she will be accountable for managing capital investments, expanding service lines, and guaranteeing exceptional quality of care. In addition, Skula will contribute to the growth of AdventHealth's presence in Marion County, while focusing on financial oversight to foster positive market growth and network development.

David Ottati commended Skula's leadership skills in hospital settings and her devotion to building a durable physician network. He expressed his assurance that she will further improve the operations and performance of AdventHealth Ocala.

Skula herself is excited to engage with the team and solidify its physician network, building on the hospital's strong presence in Ocala to fulfill its mission in the community.
