The 160,000-square-foot Nicholson Pavilion adds 140 patient rooms and a new lobby.

Winter Park -- The first three floors of the Nicholson Pavilion at AdventHealth Winter Park are now open, adding 80-private patient rooms, a spacious, comfortable surgical waiting area and a new hospital entrance.

Also, a new state-of-the-art orthopedic unit is now open, in partnership with Jewett Orthopaedic.

When the pavilion fully opens in the fall, it will premiere a new AdventHealth inpatient rehabilitation unit, which will be the first of its kind in Central Florida. Once fully open, the pavilion will feature 140 new private patient rooms.

"AdventHealth Winter Park was founded more than 60 years ago with the goal of creating a world-class hospital to serve the community's health needs close to home," said Jennifer Wandersleben, CEO of AdventHealth Winter Park. "The addition of the Nicholson Pavilion will help us continue to focus on whole-person care in Winter Park by allowing us to provide the community with state-of-the-art technology and a serene environment to heal."

Physicians perform more than 9,000 surgeries at AdventHealth Winter Park each year, and the hospital logs more than 60,000 outpatient visits and nearly 14,000 inpatient admissions annually.

Crews have spent more than 163,528 hours working on the Nicholson Pavilion. Other construction notables on the project include:

  • 10,000 cubic yards of concrete
  • 979 tons of reinforcing steel
  • 373,000 square feet of formwork

The expansion was generously supported by philanthropists Tony and Sonja Nicholson. The donation represents the largest investment in AdventHealth Winter Park's history, and marks one of the largest single investments in Winter Park's history.
