Our organizations are pleased to support the work that is taking place in our community to address the opioid crisis. Many of our physician leaders and staff have been working with all of the major stakeholders to advance this community wide effort.

This Saturday represents another opportunity for our organizations to lead in this initiative.

According to data distributed by the American Medical Association, more than 70 percent of people misusing opioid analgesics are getting them from family and friends.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Days have been hugely successful in making sure much of this excess supply is discarded in an appropriate manner.

We hope that you may be willing to reach out and urge your patients to take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of expired, unwanted and unused medications.

Anyone can take part in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which starts at 10 a.m. local time Saturday, April 28.
