George D. Everett, MD, MS, MACP, Named Florida Chapter Governor of National Doctors' Group

George D. Everett, MD, MS, MACP, has been named Governor of the Florida Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the national organization of internists. The Board of Governors is an advisory board to the Board of Regents, and implements national projects in addition to representing members at the national level.

 

Dr. Everett, of Casselberry, FL, is the founding Program Director, and the current Academic Chair of the Internal Medicine residency program at AdventHealth Hospital in Orlando. He is a junior-year Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, and he also holds a Master of Science in epidemiology from the University of Iowa. He became of Master of ACP (MACP) in 2019. Election to Mastership recognizes outstanding and extraordinary career accomplishments.

 

Governors are elected by local ACP members and serve four-year terms. Working with a Governor’s Council, they supervise ACP chapter activities, appoint members to chapter committees, and preside at regional meetings. They also represent members by serving on the ACP Board of Governors.

 

Within ACP, Dr. Everett has served on the Governor’s Council, as Chair of the Education Committee, and Program Chair of the Scientific Meeting. He has received the ACP Florida Teacher of the Year and Laureate Awards. He was named Teacher of the Year for University of Central Florida College of Medicine and Teacher of the Year for Florida State University College of Medicine.

 

Dr. Everett has worked as a volunteer for Shepherd’s Hope Clinic and served as a medical missionary in the Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, and Peru.
