Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) recently named Chris Hunter, MD, PhD, assistant vice president and chief quality officer of Medicine. In his new role, Dr. Hunter will work with leadership and medical staff to develop and implement organizational quality initiatives to achieve desired metrics and patient safety outcomes. Dr. Hunter will support activities, processes, and policies to continue high quality patient care, driven by system-wide clinical practices and standards. He will also support the development and adoption of organizational strategies to enhance the culture of quality and safety.

Dr. Hunter has held several positions at Orlando Health and throughout the community. Most recently, he was the assistant program director for the Orlando Health Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and the medical director for the Orlando Health Air Care Team. In the community Dr. Hunter previously served as director, Orange County Health Services Department, and associate medical director, Orange County Emergency Medical Services System.

His scope of research includes safety and efficacy of prehospital treatment for atrial fibrillation, prehospital indicators of sepsis, and comparison of triage methodologies in mass casualty incident field simulation.

Dr. Hunter earned a medical degree from New York Medical College, and a doctorate in neuroscience from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed an emergency medicine residency and emergency medical services fellowship at ORMC, and is board certified in both emergency medicine and emergency medical services.
