Virtual ceremony marks beginning of construction on 100-bed hospital.

PALM COAST — AdventHealth broke ground on its 100-bed Palm Coast Parkway hospital, which will bring an increase in inpatient care to the growing population of Flagler County. A virtual groundbreaking celebration took place via AdventHealth Palm Coast’s Facebook page.

The project, Flagler County’s single-largest health care investment, includes the second AdventHealth hospital in Palm Coast. The four-story hospital, located on the north end of the county near Bridgehaven Drive, will be approximately 158,000 square feet.

AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway will include an emergency department with full-service imaging; five operating suites; endoscopy services; outpatient laboratory; heart catheterization labs; 20 critical care patient rooms and 80 general medical or surgical care rooms.

Flagler County’s only other hospital, the 99-bed AdventHealth Palm Coast, was built in 2002. Between 2010 and 2019, Flagler’s population increased by 20%, according to data collected by World Population Review. By 2026, Flagler County’s population is expected to grow by an additional 7%, according to SG2 Insurance Coverage Forecast, and providing accessible, high-quality acute-care services to the burgeoning community is integral.

“COVID-19 shed light on the need for every individual to have convenient access to world-class health care,” said Dr. Ron Jimenez, CEO of AdventHealth Palm Coast and AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway. “We are pleased to strengthen the health of our community by expanding our state-of-the-art emergency, inpatient and outpatient care in Flagler County.”

Plans also call for a 30,000-square-foot medical office building to be constructed as part of this $145 million project. AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway will bring up to 700 new jobs to the area upon completion.

This second hospital is a significant example of AdventHealth’s ongoing commitment to the Flagler County community. AdventHealth recently donated $50,000 to Flagler Cares, a countywide initiative to bring new health, wellness and social welfare infrastructure to Flagler residents to reduce health and social disparities. In July 2021, AdventHealth and Flagler Schools forged a valuable 5-year partnership to provide a mental health fund for students, athletic training for high school students, and more career coaching and opportunities for high school seniors and graduates.

“We are excited to celebrate this groundbreaking with residents and look forward to opening our doors to the patients and families we are privileged to serve,” said David Ottati, president and CEO, AdventHealth Central Florida Division - North Region. “We are grateful to be a vital part of the Flagler County community.”

The architect on the hospital is HuntonBrady Architects, and the contractor is Robins & Morton. AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway is set to open in spring 2023.
