TITUSVILLE – St. Francis is pleased to announce that Steve Griffin, PMP, has been appointed as Interim Coordinator of the St. Francis Reflections We Honor Veterans Level 5 Program. As a graduate of the United States Military Academy West Point and a United States Army veteran, Griffin is proud to serve fellow veterans. He serves as a hospice volunteer, St. Francis Reflections Foundation Board member, and a member of the St. Francis Reflections Board of Directors. Griffin is the perfect fit to oversee the We Honor Veterans program.

We Honor Veterans is a campaign to help improve the care Veterans receive from hospice and palliative care providers. The program is a collaboration of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). At St. Francis Reflections, over 25% of the patients have served in the military. We Honor Veterans allows the St. Francis team to assist and recognize these American heroes.

“We are grateful for Steve’s experience and expertise in the military and honoring veterans on our services. In his role, Steve will ensure that we are fully aligned with the values and mission of the national We Honor Veterans Program,” said Joe Killian, President and CEO of Hospice of St. Francis. “Our staff and volunteers are extremely proud to offer appreciation and recognition to our Veteran patients through our participation in the We Honor Veterans program. As we honor our Veteran patients in this way, we learn so much about the strength of the human spirit and witness the sharing of memories telling of shining examples of heroic patriotism.”

After serving his time in the United States Army, Griffin spent 37 years serving the Space Coast in several different capacities, including engineer and senior level operations at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Astrotech Space Operations, Department of Homeland Security at Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Space Coast Launch Services on the USAF 45th Space Wing’s Launch Operations Support Contract, Computer Sciences Raytheon on the USAF 45th Space Wing’s Eastern Range Technical Services Contract, Vencore on NASA’s KSC Engineering Services Contract, and finally, as the President and Program Manager of NASA’s Base Operations Spaceport Services Contract. Griffin’s heart is for the people and veterans of the Space Coast.

As the We Honor Veterans Coordinator, Griffin will be able to oversee and focus on the unique needs of our nation’s Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness, hospice and palliative care providers will be able to accompany and guide America’s Veterans and their families toward a more peaceful ending. And in cases where there might be some specific needs related to the Veteran’s military service, combat experience or other traumatic events, the partnership provides Hospice of St. Francis with tools to help support those they are caring for. The resources of We Honor Veterans focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment, coupled with Veteran-centric education of staff caring for Veterans.

“There is no greater act of devotion and sacrifice than to raise your hand and swear an oath to give your life for your country. U.S. Armed Forces Veterans made this commitment, often at grave personal risk, to keep us safe and protect our freedoms. For this, they deserve our eternal gratitude and respect,” said

Steve Griffin, PMP, We Honor Veterans Coordinator. “Through We Honor Veterans, we demonstrate our deep appreciation for their service and sacrifice. I am immensely proud to be part of it.”
