Orlando Health earned its first rating in PEOPLE’s sixth annual list of 100 Companies That Care ® which spotlights employers that have gone above and beyond to create positive workplaces for their staff and the community at large. Only organizations that are currently Great Place to Work certified are eligible for consideration.

Recognized alongside peers including Target Corporation and Bank of America, Orlando Health is the only Central Florida healthcare organization to be recognized in this year’s rankings. Employee sentiment and satisfaction were significant determining factors in the ranking each organization received. Efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of operations, invest in employees’ mental health and give back to those in need were also considered in the assessment process.

“For more than a century, it has been an Orlando Health tradition to care for the communities we serve and each other,” said Karen Frenier, senior vice president, Orlando Health human resources and chief nurse executive. “This recognition is just another reminder of not only the teamwork and dedication our team members have for making Orlando Health a great place to work, but also ensuring we are an organization that cares for and about our community.”

In a 2021 engagement study of Orlando Health employees by Great Place to Work, 74 percent of Orlando Health team members said the health system was a great place to work, compared to 57 percent of employees at a typical U.S.-based company. When asked how they felt about how Orlando Health contributes to the community, 86 percent of team members said they feel good about the hospital system’s impact on the community.

In its 2021 fiscal year, Orlando Health provided approximately $648 million in total value to the communities it serves in the form of charity care, community benefit programs and services, community building activities in more.
