Full job description

Our practice continues to grow and with that comes the demand for growth in our cardiac catheterization department. These positions play key support roles in assisting RNs clinical staff in preoperative and postoperative care and the cardiac monitoring of patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cardiac monitoring in the preoperative and postoperative care of cath lab patients.

Coordinate preoperative orders with the patient.

Assuring the chart, orders, and labs are in order and the patient is prepared for their procedure. - Answering questions and helping the patient before arrival.

Greeting and setting the patient up for their procedure including answering questions.

Managing the patient postoperatively including monitoring the patient for any postoperative issues.

Charting services provided.

Discharge planning with the patient and their family.

Other duties, depending on desire and skills, may include assistance with inventory control,

Accreditation, policy and procedure improvement, and operational enhancements.

The complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED (do not apply without all of the following); Paramedic or EMT certification and at least 2 years of cardiac cath lab experience. Advanced resuscitation and life support experience in real-life situations. Documented IV insertion experience. EKG and health monitoring experience.

Current ACLS and BLS are required.

PREFERRED; Cardiology experience. Knowledge of EMR charting. Accreditation, policy and procedure management, and enhancement. Teamwork success. Be accustomed to high volume, but accurate work.

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting items as well as patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for good portions of the day. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. and patient position which will weigh more. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires typing and intellectual skills necessary to appropriately chart complex patient care elements.
