Orlando Health cardiologist Dr. Robert Dalton Jr., 56, was struck and killed by a passing automobile while riding his bicycle Monday morning on Orlando Avenue near Versailles Drive in Maitland.

He had served with Orlando Health since 1999 and was remembered as an "exceptional physician leader" by Desmond Jordon, manager, media relations at the health system.

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Robert Dalton and extend our deepest sympathies to his wife and children as they face this difficult time. Patients, team members and colleagues were all touched by Dr. Dalton's professionalism, compassion and kindness. Dr. Dalton was an exceptional physician leader throughout our organization and he will be greatly missed and remembered," said Jordon.

Visitation will be held December 21, 2018 from 6PM to 9PM at the Maitland Chapel of DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory. A Celebration of Life will be held the following day, December 22, 2018 from 10am to 11am followed by a reception from 11 am to 1 pm at First United Methodist Church of Winter Park.
