Central Florida Health has announced that the Cancer Registry at Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages® Regional Hospital has earned the Jean Byers Oncology Award for Excellence in Cancer Registration from the Florida Cancer Data System for 2018 data. This award recognizes healthcare systems and hospital that adhere to rigorous national standards for completeness, timeliness and quality for reporting cancer data to the statewide cancer registry. This is the 16th year Central Florida Health has earned this prestigious award.

"It recognizes the ongoing commitment of our Cancer Registry team. They truly understand the value in cancer data reporting and work diligently every day to accurately track the health of our cancer patients and community."

The award is given in honor of Jean Anne Byers, who passed away in 1996 following a long career dedicated to promoting oncology research and education in Florida.
