MELBOURNE  -  OMNI Healthcare has received a substantial supply of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for children age 5 through 11 and is now administering the vaccine at its pediatrics offices throughout Brevard by appointment and at its Melbourne vaccination clinic on a walk-in basis.

Children aged 5 to 11 years old are the latest to receive approval for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine by the FDA. The major expansion is expected to help fight serious infections among children and keep schools open.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the first and only Covid-19 vaccine to receive full approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Pfizer vaccine is now marketed as Cominarty, for the prevention of Covid-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older. The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization (EUA), including for individuals 5 through 15 years of age and for the administration of a third dose (Booster) for individuals over the age of 18 with medical conditions and all people over the age of 65.
