Orlando Health Welcomes Physicians to Expanding Neuroscience & Rehabilitation Institute

Orlando Health recently announced the addition of epileptologist Naoir Zaher, M.D., neuromuscular specialist Vahid Tohidi, M.D., Ph.D. and fellowship-trained neuro-ophthalmologist Bahareh Hassanzadeh, M.D. as the newest additions to the hospital system’s growing neuroscience institute. The three doctors will practice throughout Downtown Orlando, Lake Mary and Winter Park.  

A current member of the American Epilepsy Society, Dr. Zaher earned his medical degree from Tishreen University Medical School in Latakia, Syria. He joins Orlando Health after serving as director of the epilepsy monitoring unit and co-director of the epilepsy center at Lehigh Valley Health Network. An active speaker on advancements in epilepsy, Dr. Zaher currently teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Zaher will serve as the epilepsy division director for the Orlando Health Neuroscience & Rehabilitation Institute.  

Dr. Tohidi earned his medical degree from the Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran and his Ph.D. in biology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Tohidi joins Orlando Health after being a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois Chicago and will serve as the new division director of neuromuscular and peripheral nerve disorders. He brings with him extensive experience diagnosing, treating and managing neurological disorders in patients related to peripheral nervous system disorders. 

Dr. Hassanzadeh joins Orlando Health after serving as a clinical assistant professor of neurology and neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. In addition to earning her medical degree from the Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran and completing her graduate education in neuroscience research at Rutgers, The State University at New Jersey, she has been involved in more than 20 clinical studies and neurology disorder case reports. She has provided her expertise as a member of the neurology medical staff at several southern California hospitals, Hassanzadeh brings years of experience in neuro-ophthalmology, general neurology and research with her to Orlando Health.
