Reedy Creek Improvement District Joins AdventHealth Nicholson Center Providing Medical Training for First Responders

.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District and the AdventHealth Nicholson Center, one of the leading surgical training centers in the country, are collaborating on a two-week cadaver lab to provide more than 180 firefighters, paramedics and EMT's with a more realistic training experience to better prepare them to serve the community and accurately resolve any crucial medical issues they encounter.

.

"Firefighters and paramedics are often confronted with dire medical situations in the field, so we want to ensure they're receiving the most realistic training possible," said Captain Drew Neubrand. "This will no doubt better prepare our teams for a variety of scenarios and we are grateful to our department for committing to growing the skills of the medics serving our community."

.

Firefighters will be using high-definition video laryngoscopes that provide an unobstructed view of the patient's airway, therefore allowing the patient to breathe before respiratory failure. This life-saving technology and training with the use of cadavers will help prepare these teams and create a safer community for the citizens and visitors of the Greater Orlando area.

.

"Our mission is to advance medical training and education, equipping physicians, first responders and others with the skills they need to serve their patients and communities," said Lilly Graziani, director of corporate development at the AdventHealth Nicholson Center. "We are honored to be a resource to help our first responders keep our community safe."
