Fraser Cobbe

Orange County Medical Society

The Orange County Medical Society is extremely proud to announce that one of our emerging leaders, Jessica Walsh O'Sullivan, was recently recognized by the Florida Medical Association with the Sanford A. Mullen, M.D. Award for Outstanding Community Service by a Medical Student. Jessica received the award during the 2017 Florida Medical Association Annual Meeting.

The submission in support her candidacy for the award contains an exhaustive list of her leadership positions and community service projects. She is active in many of the special interest clubs at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine to include the Emergency Medicine Interest Group, the Family Medicine Interest Group, the American Medical Association Chapter, and the Florida Medical Association Chapter. She is the Vice Chair of Recruitment for the FMA Chapter, and was recently elected as the Chair of the Southeast Region for the AMA Medical Student Section.

In addition, Jessica has volunteered over 150 hours working with the McCormick Institute which is home to an equine assisted therapy program for veterans and children with disabilities.

The impact she has had on her peers is evident in one of the quotes that accompanied her award submission. "Jessica Walsh O'Sullivan is a disciplined worker and a true leader whom I believe will have a lifelong impact in organized medicine."

The Orange County Medical Society would like to congratulate Jessica on this recognition. We hope our community can continue to benefit from her compassion and leadership for decades to come.
