OHRI - MRI TECHNOLOGIST

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.

Essential Functions

  • Contacts upcoming patients; introduces self, verifies/provides instructions and answers any patient questions/concerns.
  • Reviews physician order; verifies correct patient, correct exam and patient compliance with pre-exam instructions.
  • Acquires/reviews patient’s clinical history and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Provides verbal instruction that elicits and achieves patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Positions patient, equipment, devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy/physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Assesses processed radiographs for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a professional demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication injection with and without use of power injectors.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Applies sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Applies principles of MRI safety to patient, self, and others; ensures safety of patients.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to OHIC policy, procedures, protocols, mission statements and customer service and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks/Quality Improvement efforts..
  • Assists in supervision of student technologists.
  • Utilizes organizational Radiology Information Systems (RIS) computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Maintains appropriate, punctual attendance consistent with OHIC policies, ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Other Related Functions/Duties

  • Performs approved user-maintenance on radiology equipment and attachments.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment; maintains well-stocked and organized work area(s).
  • May be required to work at any other OHIC/OHRI facility; perform other duties, as assigned by competent authority.

Education/Training

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

Licensure/Certification

  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida and
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification

  • Extremes in temperature (>90degrees F)/humidity (>80%RH)
